In order to kick-start summer, the CEM PGR Community marked its second CEM PGR Riverside Picnic on the 1st of June 2023 at the Terrace and Fletcher Suites of the Vijay Patel Building on campus.

The picnic was very relaxed with lots to eat and drink and entertainment ranging from modern jazz music to a solo debut performance by the youngest member of our Community. The event also marked the last face-to-face engagement of the CEM PGR Community for the present academic year. Therefore, it served as an opportunity to network with students, academic staff and administrators while expressing gratitude for their support during the academic period. We also used the opportunity to thank the supporters and partners of the Community such as Lipika Deka, Nicola Wilkinson, Doctoral College, Food Village, Heads of Departments, Supervisors, Administrators, Print Centre and Volunteers.

The PGR journey is usually a unique and solo experience which impacts every sphere of a researcher’s life, while sometimes testing academic and personal boundaries. The CEM PGR Community was therefore conceived for and run by PGR student researchers across various institutes at DMU. The primary objective is to ensure researchers do not feel alone by creating a sense of “Community” amongst researchers while establishing a safe ecosystem for experience sharing and peer learning.
